Dasha’s mother, Svetlana: Our daughter - Dasha Kondratenko is a very active, alive and cheerful kid. She went to school very early, when she even wasn’t 6 years old. She enjoyed folk and east dances, always merry and mischievous. But then we suddenly got into trouble…

Despite fine wellbeing of our babe we noticed with my husband that our daughter has shortness of breath. Within three days we contacted children’s hospital doctors. The doctors made X-ray photograph where only one lung was viewed. The doctors approximately diagnosed - pleurisy.

The doctors made paracentesis of chest – where they discovered blood. 500 millilitre of blood was deleted and the kid’s health dramatically got worse. The doctors called the resuscitation specialists from Zaporozhye (as we were with daughter in another Ukrainian city - Melitopol) and we were delivered to the regional clinical hospital.

It happened on March 17, 2009 …. Dasha’s health state was very difficult, her heart and lungs worked badly, there was a threatening of cardiac arrest. Our daughter spent 6 days in resuscitation department, but the doctors didn’t rescue our baby. The doctors made our daughter CAT thorax and they discovered a big tumor – 10-12 sm. This tumor squeezed our baby’s heart and lungs.

They made tumor biopsy and bone marrow paracentesis. The doctor found out that it was - malignant lymphoma. We couldn’t believe that it had happened to our daughter!

Meanwhile Dasha was getting prednisolone hormone, antibiotics and her health got better. In three weeks this tumor fully disintegrated. Our kid started to get and feel better. Our daughter again became merry and energetic. They didn’t not do any chemotherapy and we went back home.

In two months and half this nightmare happened again. I noticed that Dasha had shortness of breath again. We immediately made X-ray photograph and the results were the same as it was the first time – there was only one lung and the was liquid in thorax. It was on June 23, 2009 evening and the morning next day we were in-patient treatment at the republic children’s clinical hospital, in oncohaematological department of Simferopol city.

After a hospital check-up Dasha was again diagnosed - lymphoma- relapse. And the long, sickly and intolerably painful treatment started.

 There is nothing worse in life than to see how you lovely baby is suffering and torturing! But we will overcome it and we believe that our sweet daughter will fully recover!

For today we have already passed through two blocks of overdose chemotherapy.
Soon the new treatment of record will start.

In future our daughter will need bone marrow transplantation.
