Ministry of Health of Ukraine

Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Official Institution reports that it can admit for treatment the citizen of Ukraine Syenin Oleg Vitaliyevich, year of birth 1991, with diagnosis: myelodysplastic syndrome, refractory anemia, for allogeneic unrelated-donor bone-marrow transplantation, which is the only curative method of this disease. The treatment will require USD 155,000, including the cost of purchase and delivery of hemopoietic stem cells from Germany, which is USD 15,000 (fifteen thousand).
The treatment cost stated is not final and can change depending on treatment.

ADVISORY OPINION

Syenin, Oleg Vitaliyevich
Year of birth: 1991
Resident of Dnyeprodzerzhynsk, Dnyepropetrovsk region

Clinical data and results of cytological screening of bone-marrow, and evidence of clonal cytogenetic anomaly of bone-marrow cells showed that the patient has a hypocellular variant of MDS: refractory cytopenia. Considering the presence of clonal anomaly specific for MDS/ secondary acute myeloblastic leukemia, immunosuppressive therapy is not indicated. The allogeneic bone-marrow transplantation (from either related or partially matched related donor) is the only curative method in this case.

Recommendation:
1.To introduce the symptom management and replacement therapy (if indicated).
2.To do the HLA-matching of the patient and members of his family in order to find a possible donor for allo-BMT.
